A symbol made just for your magic.
There are symbols we inherit (like the pentacle or moon phases)…
And then there are symbols we create ourselves.
A sigil is a unique symbol that you design to hold a specific intention.
It’s a visual spell—an intention written in shape instead of words.
You don’t need to be psychic. Or an artist. Or initiated.
You just need:
- A desire
- A clear thought
- A pen (or fingers, or chalk, or stick in the dirt)
- A willingness to trust the magic
Let’s walk through it.
What Is a Sigil?
A sigil is a personal magical symbol, crafted with intention, and charged with energy. It’s like a magical password:
- only you know what it means
- it holds a focused desire
- it’s not meant to be read—only felt
Think of a sigil as a “spell condensed into a single shape.”
You can use sigils for:
- protection
- healing
- confidence
- boundaries
- clarity
- manifestation
- and almost anything else you can name
How Sigils Work
Symbols tap into your subconscious, where much of your power lives.
When you compress a desire into a shape, you bypass:
- overthinking
- doubt
- fear
- obsessive control
The sigil doesn’t just represent your intention—it becomes a container for it.
And once charged, it works quietly in the background.
Like setting a background app on your phone… only it’s running in your energy field.
Quick Notes Before You Start
- Use clear, positive language. Instead of “I don’t want anxiety,” try: → “I am calm and centered.”
- Avoid overly complex ideas like “I want a raise AND a partner AND to move AND to become a dragon.” → One sigil = one focus. You can always make more.
- You don’t need to believe in a specific deity, spirit, or tradition. → Sigils work on energetic, psychological, and magical levels.
Method 1: The Classic Letter Sigil
The most common and beginner-friendly method.
Step 1: Write your intention as a short sentence
Examples:
- “I am protected.”
- “My body is a safe home.”
- “I trust my intuition.”
- “The right opportunities find me.”
Write it down clearly, confidently, and positively.
Step 2: Remove vowels and duplicate letters
From:
I TRUST MY INTUITION
Remove vowels (A, E, I, O, U):
→ TRSTMYNTTN
Remove duplicate letters:
→ TRSMYN
Step 3: Turn letters into a design
Now take those letters and:
- break them into pieces (T becomes a cross or line)
- combine shapes (R and Y can share a curve)
- stylize, abstract, flip, and rotate
- aim for something unique and hard to read (that’s the point!)
Don’t worry if it looks “weird.” That’s good.
This is about creating an energetic symbol, not a logo.
Step 4: Finalize your sigil
Redraw your favorite version a few times. Simplify if needed.
Try it in ink, charcoal, paint, or digitally—whatever feels potent.
You now have a personal magical glyph.
Method 2: Scribble & Feel (Intuitive Sigil Creation)
Perfect for artists, neurodivergent witches, and nonlinear thinkers.
- Write your intention on paper.
- Without thinking too hard, scribble over it while holding your desire in mind.
- Look for shapes or patterns that emerge.
- Circle, highlight, or redraw them as your sigil.
Bonus: This method can include your energy signature—the motion of your hand, the rhythm of your breath, the tension or release in your body.
Method 3: Emotional Energy Sigil
- Choose a specific emotion or state you want to embody (peace, strength, joy).
- Close your eyes and feel that state in your body.
- Let your hand move freely on paper as you focus on the feeling.
- Shape those lines into a repeatable design.
This works especially well for non-verbal witches or those who experience the world more somatically than linguistically.
How to Charge a Sigil
Creating the sigil is half the magic.
Charging it activates the energy and tells the universe (or your subconscious):
“This is what I’m calling in.”
Ways to charge:
| Method | What to Do |
|---|---|
| 🔥 Fire | Burn the sigil in a fire-safe dish |
| 🌬️ Breath | Inhale deeply and exhale onto the sigil |
| 🕯️ Candle | Pass it through candlelight or place under a candle |
| 🧘 Visualization | Imagine it glowing, pulsing, and releasing energy |
| 💧 Water | Sprinkle moon water or anointing oil over it |
| 🌿 Ritual | Include it in a full moon, seasonal, or personal ceremony |
Choose what fits your vibe. There’s no single “correct” way.
What to Do After Charging
You have two basic paths:
🕯️ Keep It
- Place it under your pillow, altar, desk, or mirror
- Use as a screensaver or phone background
- Tattoo it (if you’re feeling spicy and committed)
🔥 Release It
- Burn it
- Tear it up
- Bury it in soil
- Let water carry it away
This “release” tells the energy: “You’re free to work now. I trust you.”
Tracking Your Sigils
You can (but don’t have to) keep a Sigil Journal.
Include:
- The intention
- The final symbol
- How you charged it
- Any results, synchronicities, or feelings that showed up
You’ll start to notice patterns—what styles work best, which intentions manifest faster, etc.
Final Notes
- Sigils are personal. You don’t need anyone’s permission to make or use them.
- If it feels sacred, it is.
- If it works for you, it’s working.
“Your words are spells. Your symbols are portals. Your magic is real.”
